TÜrkiye's version of the Pacific Coast Highway

A brand new highway with tunnels cuts behind the old coastal highway. But for those who forsake the bypass for the old road, some of the coast's most pristine beaches and natural scenic beauty awaits. The quaint town of Ünye, a hidden jewel of the Black Sea coast, serves up some of the region's best cuisine and has a nicely developed waterfront area. Further along the journey, Çaka beach, a quiet sandy hideaway, rests in a cove at the top of the small peninsula between Fatsa and Ordu. Down the road from there is the 19th century Yason Kilisesi (ya-sown kee-lee-say-see) or Jason Church, which was built near the water's edge and today is a small museum. The main attraction in Ordu itself is the cable car that lifts visitors to Boztepe, a large nearby hill, with splendid views of the city along the way. One of Ordu's features known to those who live in the region is the quality and variety of locally grown produce, which is available in the pazar (puh-zar), or bazaar, daily.
