A beautiful waterfall in Ordu

Who are you?

My name is Erin! I have lived on the Black Sea for a few years and am excited to explore more of this beautiful region. I wanted to come up with a way to share this place I’ve come to love with others. Thus, this site! Read more here.

Why should I visit the Black Sea coast?

Turkey's Black Sea coast is situated along the western edge of Central Asia's ancient Silk Road trade routes. Here, mountains covered with lush green tea leaves spill into the deep dark waters of the Black Sea and adventure awaits you around every turn. Backpack in the remote Kaçkar Mountains, take a raft down the whitewater of the Fırtına River, eat a trout freshly pulled from a mountain stream, or explore the ruins of churches, fortresses, and monasteries that belonged to ancient civilizations. The Black Sea coast has much to offer those who venture there, but it is for most outsiders an undiscovered secret. Learn more about the region's distinctive areas here.

What are some things to do on the Black sea coast?

The heart of this travel website is the blog. In the months to ahead, I'll be posting updates such as "The top 5 things to do in Amasya". For now, the cities section of the site will get you started. If I can be of personal assistance as you plan your adventure, please feel free to contact me.

Can you recommend someone for travel arrangements? Can you recommend some restaurants?

I'll be offering reviews and recommendations of restaurants, hotels, and more on the blog. For now, I'll share the name of two of my favorite restaurants: Sofra Osmanlı Mutfağı (Sofra Ottoman Kitchen) in Ünye; and Ali Kaya in Amasya.

What is the weather like?

Temperatures on the Black Sea coast are moderate in general. The winters are cool and wet and summers are warm and humid. Temperatures in the mountains and other inland areas vary much more, with greater potential for snow in winter.

Are there things to do with children?

The short answer is yes, but I'll be posting more about this topic on the blog. Samsun, for example, offers great green spaces, cable cars, go-carts, and even a small zoo. Sinop and Ordu have nice beach areas, while Trabzon and Rize have hiking and rafting.
